New job opportunities for the hard working people of this great nation will always be news worthy from us at Frank Subaru! We will spill some of the details coming from Lafayette, Indiana.

So the factory that produces the Subaru Outbacks and Legacy are looking to expand due to the great demand of both quality vehicles and the company plans on investing $75 million over the next two years to boost production capabilities. This in turn will create 100 new full-time jobs by the end of 2014!

Beginning this summer the factory’s body assembly section will go under construction for the 52,000-square-foot expansion.

“We are proud but not surprised. Each time I have visited with Subaru leadership they have stressed how pleased they are with the performance and productivity of (Subaru of Indiana Automotive),” Governor Mitch Daniels said. “You’re standing in the safest automotive plant in America, the greenest automotive plant in America, and arguably the most productive automotive plant anywhere.”

About 3,600 people now work at the factory that produces Legacy, Outback and Tribeca models for Subaru along with Toyota Camrys.

“News like this is every city’s dream, every mayor’s wish. SIA’s continuing investments in its facility, its associates and our community strengthen Lafayette, Tippecanoe County and the entire region,” said Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski. “From the families of associates to local suppliers and the many nonprofits SIA supports, the benefits of today’s announcement extend well beyond the manufacturing floor. Those who work at SIA have found more than jobs. They’ve found careers.”

Great news and happy summer construction in Indiana!

Frank Subaru has won my business both in the short and long-term. Car purchasing can be a chore to say the least, but our experience was painless and enjoyable. We received excellent terms on our trade-in, financing, and left the dealership with a new Outback all in the span of a few hours.

We were assisted by Jose De Anda and Jim Veneman, both of whom were extremely professional and helpful.

I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants a pleasant car-buying experience. Couldn’t be happier.

Had a fast, easy experience leasing my new Impreza in March 2011. The price they gave me was well below cost and alot cheaper than Kearny Mesa or Bob Baker, if I decide to buy it when the lease runs out the bottom line is really important to me. I have had my vehicle serviced twice there for regular maintenance and got in and out quickly. So far, so good. I would definitely come back in the future.

The people at Frank Subaru were very helpful and non pushy (two things that make purchasing a car ideal) and were also very accomadating. When we went to the lot we were instantly greeted and helped to find the specific car that my dad wanted and when they couldn’t find one that fit my dad’s specifications they ordered one so he got the car he really wanted. Both the manager Jose and associate Pilar answered all the questions we had and went the extra mile to make sure all the t were crossed and my dad knew all that he wanted/needed to do. They also gave me a lot of information on the Impreza (a car I was looking to purchase in about 6 months) without making me feel like I was obligated to come back to them when I had decided which makes me want to go back to them way more than a dealer who asks me to. Overall we had an excellent experience at Frank Subaru and will gladly go back when I purchase my first Subaru!

Subaru of America recently presented Frank Subaru with their prestigious Stellar Care Award for 2011. As one of the greatest honors in the eyes of Subaru, less than 10% of the dealers across the nation earn this award for demonstrating excellence in all areas of customer-focused performance. Based on feedback from both customers and factory reviews, this award points to the outstanding efforts from all the Frank Subaru personnel, to provide the best customer experience possible. Mike Campbell, zone manager from Subaru offered congratulations and noted, “Frank Subaru was the only dealer in San Diego to win the award and the first time any Subaru dealer has ever won the award in their first year of business.” Frank Subaru is the newest member of the Frank Motors Group, consisting of Frank Toyota and Scion plus Frank Hyundai and Equus, all located on the National City Mile of Cars. The Frank Motors Group is celebrating the Fornaca Family Centennial, for 100 years of a family owned business in San Diego.

At the tender age of 16 Jessica Sanchez has taken American Idol by storm. Jessica is from San Diego, a Chula Vista Native, so we are very proud to have her representing us. With musical influences like Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey and Etta James she has set her goals high and we are watching to see her follow them through. Click on the link to collect Jessica’s badge and show your support for our talented neighbor: http://www.americanidol.com/contestants/season_11/jessica_sanchez/

A little more about Jessica Sanchez and her American Idol run on season 11, read below.

Jessica’s Q&A:

Question: “Who is your favorite male artist and why?”

Answer: “I love Eminem. He isn’t a singer but he raps with so much conviction and feeling. I love artists that just do what they do with so much passion and emotion.

Question: “Who is your favorite female artist and why?”

Answer: “Beyonce, she’s a very empowering woman, amazing performer and vocalist.”

Question: “What was the first concert you attended?”

Answer: “Christina Aguilera.”

Question: “If you could perform at any venue?”

Answer: “Madison Square Garden, because that’s where all the big leagues perform.”

Question: “How has music inspired you?”

Answer: “Music has always been a huge part of my life. I listen to music when I’m feeling down or just a certain way. I don’t know what I’d do without it.”

Question: “Do you have any formal singing training?”

Answer: “Nope.”

Question: “What album would your friends be surprised you own?”

Answer: “I’m not really sure. I guess the strangest album I own would have to be Etta James, only because she’s one of the older artists. My friends are mostly familiar with music that plays on the mainstream radio.

Question: “If you could perform with any person or group, who would it be and why?”

Answer: “So many people to choose from! I can’t choose… one of the people would probably have to be Beyonce. So many people compare me to her, I would just wonder how it would sound if we sang together! Plus she’s amazing.

Question: “What do you do to unwind after a performance?”

Answer: “I don’t really have anything that I do. I just go with whatever come to me!”

Question: “Which theme week would be the most challenging to you and why?”

Answer: “Probably country or rock. I’ve never tried to sing a country or rock song ever.”

Question: “What theme week would you love to have for Season 11?”

Answer: “Motown!!”

Question: “What’s your dream song to perform?”

Answer: “How Come You Don’t Call Me Anymore.”

Question: “What make a great performer?”

Answer: “I’ve been performing ever since I was seven so I’ve had the experience and practice to help me work on some things. I think stage presence is very important, just the way you present yourself to the audience.”

Question: “How do you combat stage fright?”

Answer: “Like I said, I’ve been doing this ever since I was a real youngin’ so I’ve had the practice and experience to work on some things.”

Question: “How do you plan on differentiation yourself from the competition?”

Answer: “I think my genre of music is a lot different from any of the past idol winners or from my competition here. Everyone has their own style and I think I want to go more mainstream more ‘Beyonce’ style. I want to be the girl that can belt but can sing upbeat songs.”

Question: “If you couldn’t sing, what other talent would you most like to have?”

Answer: “Singing is literally my only talent. Ha-ha. I’d love to learn how to act though.”

Question: “What has been the most unique job/chore you’ve ever had?”

Answer: “I’ve done a cricket commercial. That was pretty fun!”

Question: “How would you define success in life?”

Answer: “Just being happy in the position that you’re in. Not only being satisfied, but feeling accomplished.”

Question: “What is the most embarressing thing you’ve ever seen or experienced?”

Answer: “I’ve ran into a pole before.”

Question: “What’s your proudest moment in life outside of American Idol?”

Answer: “Being on ‘America’s Got Talent’ when I was younger. That process was similar, but I got through it and learned from my mistakes. Great experience!”

Question: “What would people be surprised to learn about you?”

Answer: “I’ve never had singing lessons.”

Question: “If you have 24 hours to do anything you wanted, what would you do?”

Answer: “Everything and anything! I’m terrified of heights, but I would go do something extreme, just live in the moment.”

Question: “Who is the person that you would most like to meet?”

Answer: “I really wanted to meet Michael Jackson. I am also dying to meet Eminem!!!”

Question: “Do you have a favorite quote, phrase or personal motto / words to live by?”

Answer: “Work hard, stay humble.”

Question: “What’s been the most surprising part of the idol experience so far?”

Answer: “That I’ve made it this far! It’s actually a lot harder than it looks!”

Question: “What have you learned about yourself by going through the Idol audition process?”

Answer: “I’m a perfectionist. My worst critic! I love to learn though, new techniques and all. I will spend most of my hours studying my music.”

Question: “What are you hoping to get out of your Idol experience?”

Answer: “Just another chance to get my name out there. I want to go on tour and make music! I’m ready for it all and am working hard for it!”

But, after driving the STI for about a week I quickly fell in love with the STI and forgot all about the EG. I have never held on to a car for more than 2 years but I have had an awesome time driving and building this car, even though it’s been a tough road. From trying to find parts to finding tuners to well finding parts, it surely wasn’t a Honda so I had to go with the big names ( HKS etc. ) and finding a tuner was impossible especially for a WRX/STI. But now the industry is catching up, still not like a Honda but well worth the hunt, and so goes where I am today with this build, not finished.

I did it! I reached my goal weight! This morning, UNOFFICIALLY at my home, I am at 85 pounds LOST in just over 5 months! I will officially hit my goal when I jump on the scale at the Medifast Weight Control Center on Carmel Mountain Road Thursday morning at 10:30. Well, unless Jeff and Jer pin me down and stuff a pizza down my throat!

NOTE: Those are not my panties!

I feel really good! I remember when I first started back in early November. I didn’t tell too many people ONLY because I wanted to see if I could do it and if it worked. When I lost 30 pounds that first month, nobody was really noticing. It wasn’t until February when I was at 60 that people started to say WHOA!

I am true to my program with Medifast. I follow the eating directions. I have not cheated at all during this whole time. Even if I think something has butter or isn’t grilled correctly, I will avoid eating it. I haven’t taken one sip of booze and I haven’t taken one sip of anything with sugar. I haven’t had any fruit OR bread since late October.

If you listen to the Jeff and Jer show, do you remember the STAND UP COMEDY routine contest we did back in late October? Those were the final days of my bad eating habits. I haven’t eaten bad since.

One question I get all the time is the cost for Medifast. There is a start up fee, but for me and if you are someone like me, you can actually save money on Medifast, especially if you had bad habits like I did. I know I wasn’t the only one in San Diego that would drive thru somewhere almost everytime you were in the car. That adds up big time! You take that away and you have the money for Medifast and in the long run, you save.

I suggest you take advantage of the free consultation and find out all about it. www.sandiegomedifast.com OR call 1-888-9-Medifast. Heck, tell them you’re my brother or sister and for them to hook you up.

The big question is: Can I keep it off? YES, I am still on Medifast and will be for many many more months. I kick in to the maintenance phase once I officially hit my goal weight in their offices this Thursday.

I have been looking forward to this phase and have been preparing for this phase for a while now. I will learn to maintain my weight with the help of my counselors at Medifast. They will devise an eating program for me and a weight training routine as well. I’M GONNA GET ALL BUFFED OUT. HAHA

I’m already addicted to working out and the gym and doing things almost everyday with Anita. Not too many days go by if I’m not working out. I have all the confidence in the world that I will maintain my weight. Anita and her husband Clark are opening up a gym in Escondido in a few weeks that will be perfect for me to workout on my way home. Fitness Unlimited 2 will open off of Center City Parkway. It’s perfect timing!

I actually texted my counselor last night saying I want to go for 100 pounds! Jamie texted me back saying we can discuss that. I liked her response. She’s going to hook me up to this machine that reads your thumbs and it will tell Medifast what’s going on in my body and if my new goal of 100 pounds is healthy to do.

I have them same mentality about my weight that I do with sobriety. I don’t party at all because I don’t want to see if I can just do it once. I don’t want to do it twice. I don’t want to go through any consequences that may happen after just one bad choice. This is how I am with my weight and with eating. I don’t want to order 4 tacos at my favorite Mexican place because I don’t want to see or go through starting it back up again and losing control of it all.

I have had my fun and have great memories with both partying and eating. I want to put in my body everything that is GOOD and HEALTHY now.

In my mind I am still a heavy person. Being the butt of jokes and hearing and reading things about my weight for so long will forever stay with me.

May 15th, I will be representing Medifast at the San Diego Padre baseball game by throwing out the first pitch. I feel honored to do that. When they announce my name, I want them to say that I have currently lost 90 pounds so far!

That’s my new short term goal.

This the first time in recent memory that I actually got in shape for the summer.

I still have a long way to go, but I am confident and I can do this forever!

My kids are proud.

Frank Motors does not only sale Subaru’s, they love them. Many of the employees love the brand so much they drive and live Subies. In the mornings you can see our parts manager, sales, master tech, and many others employees including me off course drive up with their Subaru’s with a smile on their face. Coming from a GM background and V8 muscles cars, like the Camaro and motorcycles, I was a bit skeptical when it came to this little all wheel drive turbo charge Japanese car. Needless to say within weeks I was in love with the Subaru WRX. It looked beautiful and drove with such control and speed I had to purchase one. My wife calls me an adrenaline junky. Why? I love speed. I had had plans to purchase another bike (a Kawasaki ZX 10) when my 12-year-old boy told me he did not want me to get a new bike. He knows they are dangerous and could be fatal. I new that if I couldn’t get a motorcycle I had to get a Subaru. I ended up purchasing a 2011 Subaru WRX. Little did I know that I would find myself obsessed with the car. Through customers and friends I became familiar with it and with websites such as socalsubies.com, where thousands of Subaru aficionados share their stories and organize meets. Subaru owners are a family, and it’s not uncommon to get thumbs up from each other. The car is fast enough and good enough as it is but working at a parts counter for Frank Subaru where we sell hundreds of factory and aftermarket goodies, I found myself like a child working in a candy store. It didn’t take long before I reached stage 2. I have mods such as, SPT, Cat back exhaust, Invidia, high flow, down pipe, COBB, Ram intake, Carbon craft alternator cover, GRIMM Speed, Master Cylinder Bracket, Samco hoses and Access sport to name a few. In the outer exterior I have upgrades like rally armor mudflaps, SPT carbon fiber trim, and HID conversion kit. Some might think that this sounds like a lot but I am only half way there suspension and a upgraded turbo with front mount inter-cooler are next.

The other day a few people asked if I can do a BEFORE OR AFTER photo comparison after being on Medifast and losing over 80 pounds. This blog isn’t about that. That question did inspire me to think about my life BEFORE AND AFTER because I have made so many changes over the last few months! The best thing in my life and the only thing in my life are my two kids. Eddie and Vanessa is all I live for. I work for them and I make all my decisions in life for them.

BEFORE, I was living for myself and just cared about my career and my future and wanted to make sure I was set for life, but now AFTER going through many things from being off the air for 17 months and learning and figuring out what truly is important, it’s about my kids and my kids only.

The other day someone asked me on a date and many people ask me all the time why I don’t date. My own sister Lola at Easter asked why I don’t have a girlfriend.

BEFORE, I would go out and date or hook up with anything that walked. BEFORE, I would have girls over the house and wine and dine them. AFTER many years of doing that, I just stopped doing that and put all my focus on just my kids.

I love my life now. I love that I don’t date. I love that I go home and wait to see the kids come home from school. I don’t have women over my home. My home is just for friends and family. I love that I wake up early and get ready for work and see my kids in their room and kiss them on the forehead when I leave. BEFORE, I was a dude trying to get laid, BUT NOW-AFTER, I AM A DAD and a dad only.

Living a life of sobriety is probably the umbrella that makes everything happen for me in my life. Because of sobriety, good things follow and better choices are made.

BEFORE, I just partied and got high and I was living a life of someone that never grew up or grew out of the 70′s. There was no reason at all for me to be doing what I was doing in my 30′s and first part of my 40′s. I am proud that I made that choice to change. BEFORE, I was getting stoned with David Lee Roth to Foreigner. I was getting high with athletes and actors, but today, it’s a different story!

Today, AFTER all those years of partying, I have been blessed to be able to speak to kids that are locked up. I am proud that I get invited to speak to juvenile hall for both young men and women. I speak at schools about sobriety and making better choices in life. Today, I get emails from parents that have kids on drugs needing advice.

I believe my life of sobriety came at the perfect time in my kid’s life. My kids are 15 and 17 and they fit the description of a kid in high school that may make a bad choice to use. I talk to them all the time about that. I was once their age making bad choices, but now it’s their time to go through their teenage years and they will be in situations where they have to make a choice. I am very confident my children know the terrible consequences that can happen if they make the wrong choice.

I believe the things I do at juvie and at schools makes my own two kids proud of me. They see me talk to other kids and they see me prepare for a speech and they see how I am today. They also ask me questions about my past. I am very open with my past to them and I tell them the truth. They also see my sadness about my brothers and how I miss them so much.

Now, about my weight! HOLY CRAP I WAS FAT! There were people that joked on line and on public discussion groups about my weight. People I have known for many years who would get mad at me would quickly use the YOU ARE FAT line with me.

On the Jeff and Jer Showgram, I would be the butt of all fat jokes. I would laugh along with them, but deep inside I was sad and hurting.

That was BEFORE, but now-AFTER, I am on my way to a healthier life. I have lost over 80 pounds in just over 5 months and I feel so much better physically and I feel so much better about myself.

In my mind, I am still a heavy person. I don’t believe for one second, I can call myself skinny. BEING fat is more than just a physical thing. I am still FAT in my mind and I want to tell the world about Medifast because it truly works and it’s truly magic.

I love my life right now. I miss my mom and brothers so much. I am so happy that I am a dad and a dad only. I love that I have great friends like Anita and Laura and the Jeff and Jer Showgram.

I do need to see my sisters more and my Auntie Ding who will be 100 years old in a couple more years. I have learned to see my mom with my heart now. For many months after she passed away, I actually prayed to see her again with my eyes, but I see her now with my heart and she gives me signs all the time.

So, I won’t post a BEFORE fat picture of me, but I believe that I am truly living a good BEFORE AND AFTER life and I am proud of it!
